The oldest motorcycle company in the US is not as most people believe Harley Davidson but Indian Motorcycle Company. Founded in 1901 two years before Harley they have been making classic iconic motorcycles for decades. During WWII the company was an essential supplier of motorcycles to the US military and after the war struggled in making the transition back to the civilian market. Their operation came to an end in the early 50s and they were bought by the British company Royal Enfield who used the iconic name to peddle their unsold bikes. The name Indian then laid dormant for decades. After a half-hearted attempt in the 1990s to revive the company they came back in the late 90s with newly designed models that held the classic lines but had S&S engines. Plagued with reliability and built issues the company was bought by Polaris, who just a few years earlier started the very successful “Victory” brand.

Polaris invested a lot of money in designing a new frame and a brand new engine for just this bike. Two years later the Chief was introduced. Classic lines of the long swooped fenders and the icon war bonnet on the front fender with exceptional built quality made the new Indian a feared competitor to Harley Davidson who did not have much competition before in the domestic market.

The “Springfield” is the cross between the cruiser “Chief” and the touring “Chieftain”. While it does not have the full front fairing of the Chieftain it does offer central locking hard saddle bags and the windshield as a standard equipment making it a perfect short touring bike as well as a nice riding lighter cruiser.

This particular Springfield is a one-owner bike with only 1,255 miles on the odometer. The owner bought the bike new from Hobe Sound Indian and was involved in a work accident that required multiple hip surgery and shoulder surgery rendering him unable to ride any longer. The bike is literally brand new in every aspect other than the manufacturing year. There is no scratch or ding on this bike. The chrome is perfect, the paint is perfect, garage kept and loved no doubt.

Two tone Jade Green with Black is a stunning color combination. This bike is the answer to not buying a new bike for ten thousand plus Dollars more. Windshield and passenger seat included and we do have a used sissy bar (in excellent condition) that we can add for $300 extra.
